You will have the opportunity to explore some of Tanzania’s northern “gems” over the course of four days on this rigorous safari. Tarangire, a vast and diverse park that boasts a large population of elephants and emblematic baobab trees, will be your initial destination upon departing Arusha. The subsequent destination is Lake Manyara National Park, which boasts a diverse array of landscapes and a vibrant avian population. Subsequently, the renowned Ngorongoro Conservation Area is reached, which is distinguished by its unparalleled crater. In each of these locations, there is an abundance of wildlife and birds. This is the extraordinary environments are also breathtaking.
Schedule
A staff member of World Wild Africa Safari will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and taken to the Gran Meliá Hotel in Arusha for the night. There you will be provided with the safari tour briefing.
After breakfast, proceed for a two-hour journey to Tarangire National Park, also known as the "Elephant Playground." Engage in a game drive to observe a variety of wildlife, including leopards, buffalo, and elephants. After a picnic lunch, proceed to the Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and an overnight stay at the Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge. You will spend a night at Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge.
After breakfast at Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge, travel for about 2 hours to Lake Manyara, a region known for its rich vegetation and diverse wildlife. Marvel at the sight of pink flamingos wading in the shallow, alkaline waters and enjoy birdwatching with over 400 species recorded, including bee-eaters, hornbills, yellow-billed storks, and pink-backed pelicans. The park’s diverse terrain hosts monkeys, lions, giraffes, warthogs, and Cape buffalo, with a notable hippo pool to visit. After a long safari drive and lunch, proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for dinner and an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw Camp.
After an early breakfast, drive down the steep road into the Ngorongoro Crater, passing the Lerai Forest, known for its elephant population. The crater hosts around 120 lions, 15,000 gnus, 9,000 zebras, 400 hyenas, 50 black rhinos, and various other wildlife, including buffalo, jackals, and hippos. Enjoy a morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch, with sights of flamingos at Lake Magadi. Afterward, journey 3.5 hours back to Arusha, with dinner not included; note that the luxury safari ends at 5 PM and you may need to book extra accommodation for next-day departures.
